I have a 2019 Ford Fusion Titanium 2.0L and I’ve had it for about 3 months now. I notice that it makes that sort of whining noise you can hear whenever I accelerate from a dead stop (whether it be on start, from a stop sign, etc) and it will go away after a couple seconds, usually about once I hit 20+mph. In this video it lasts a bit longer as you can see since I’m on a neighborhood street and didn’t accelerate as fast. Anyone know what could be the cause?
Not a mechanic but when my transmission was about to blow up, the car made this exact whining sound at low speeds. Might start there.

Do you think it could possibly be the transmission oil? I don’t know much about cars but I was thinking of getting a drain & fill. The car has about 62k miles and I don’t think it’s ever been done before.

Transmission fluid*

Transmission fluid is a type of oil.
@Storm
I couldn’t say. I’d have it inspected; I just know it’s not supposed to sound like that.
Sounds like damaged gear teeth for 1st gear.

Goodbye?..
The whine you’re referencing happened to me. Was identified as the turbo bypass valve. They had to remove my valve cover to replace.

I was going to say it sounds like a turbo whine.
If the OP notices the acceleration isn’t as fast as it used to be at take off, or “kicks in” after 20 mph, that’s a sign of some turbo issues. Would get it checked right away because a blown turbo will be so much more, and there is a chance of still saving it.
@Sage
I do notice that I have to accelerate slowly with this car. Otherwise, if I just step on the gas when I’m either stopped or just going at a slow speed, the car kinda jerks forward. It’s like there’s no ‘power’ to it for a bit, then it kicks in again like you mentioned. However, this does not happen at high speeds though (ex: if I step on it going 40 I’ll accelerate fast up to 60+ no problem).
This only happens when I’m going at slow speeds or from a stop.
@Storm
Get your turbo checked, like yesterday.
Without the turbo the engine struggles to push the weight of the car and it’s harder wear and tear on your engine.

It’s a hybrid.
It’s supposedly a common occurrence but my 20 Fusion Hybrid doesn’t make this sound.
It’s doing that from the camera, lol, because it’s lights and it’s daytime.
This is not a normal or good sound. This sounds like a hydraulic pump and your car only has one, and that one is inside the transmission and is a fluid pump. I have no way of determining the noise, but I can tell you from experience. This sounds like a transmission failure impending. I advise you to take it in for service. And embrace yourself for possible really expensive news. However, this is someone on the Internet, trying to help you diagnose it without proper testing and identifying the noise location. It is almost impossible for someone to be sure on the Internet, but based on my 25 years of experience in automotive repair field, this is my best guess.
The blinking of your Park Reverse Neutral lights indicates a transmission problem with your Ford Fusion. That’s the first thing that caught my eye was your gear selector was having a rave party.

It’s not blinking to the naked eye, it only blinks on the camera. These lights are illuminated by LEDs where they have a different frequency than the recording, like filming a car’s DRL it also blinks.
@Zeke
It doesn’t blink in my Fusion through the camera that’s what it says when your lights blink there’s a transmission problem.
