My 2019 has had a loss of power and sputtering/ misfiring at WOT. Took it into the dealership and they say they scoped it and there is scuffing inside the cylinder and leaking fluid inside somehow. Said a new engine would be $11,000+ dollars. Obviously don’t have the money for that. So, looking into another car. I’ve always wanted a 2 liter. Any advice?
There is a class action lawsuit pending about this well-known problem. You should look up the issue on Google. TSB 2020, I believe, or something like. In essence, a new engine ought to be provided at no cost to you. They should at least take part, even though there are age and mileage restrictions. 1.5 constructed before to April [EDIT: JUNE] 2019 will see flawed block architecture that causes this…
Did they show you pictures?
ought to be included in the recall.
Recall supposedly goes to 84,000 miles. We’re at 85,200. Dealership is refusing to do any work on it.
Should be covered until 2025 1.5 take to dealership
Engine cannot be 11000. It’s 1100 (not even that, it’s half of that)
1 - go to some nice local junkyard
2 - hang around, be cool
3 - ask the boys to swap it
P.S. 1.5 is the least reliable engine of all available options
I had the same problem with my 2014 last year, except it got so bad that the engine entirely died four days after I bought the car. Had to pay $10,000 to have it replaced, and when it was returned, the issues persisted. With the exception of the coolant, they fixed it again for free, and it has been good ever since.
I had my 17 engine replaced with the same problem. Take it to a dealer.
Visit another store, seek a second opinion, and consider buying a used or remanufactured engine instead.
