I have a 2015 Ford Fusion and I’ve replaced the headlights several times. I thought I was putting them in right, but now the left headlight seems to be aimed to the right. I took the bulb out and put it back in, and I’m pretty sure it’s in correctly. Could something have happened to the projector itself?
Maybe you need to adjust something
My 2012 model has the same issue but on the opposite side

I swear it wasn’t always like this and I have no idea how it happened. I think I might need to replace the whole thing.
@Sterling
Same here. It feels like it’s seated properly. I was really careful during the whole process but I have no solution.
@Sterling
I faced the same problem after replacing a burnt bulb. I noticed a dark spot in front of my car and people thought my brights were on. Swapping to LED bulbs helped, and I made sure to adjust them downwards to not blind other drivers.
Could it be that the bulb isn’t fully seated in the socket?
What kind of bulb are you using? If it has adjustable orientation, you should aim it at 9 and 3 o’clock.

It’s just a halogen bulb. I’m sure it’s locked in.

It’s either not locked in or your projector might be damaged.
If the bulb is not seated just right and locked in, it can do what your picture shows. I usually take off the whole bumper and the housing since it’s easier to make sure everything is done right. It might be tedious but I only have to do it about every one to one and a half years if I use halogens.
@Jai
Thanks. I wanted to avoid that but I hope I didn’t mess anything up trying to put it in the way I did. I’ve done this a few times without an issue. I’ll try again tomorrow and remove the bumper if it doesn’t work. Thanks again.
@Sterling
If it still doesn’t look right, then I think there’s an internal issue with the projector lens. I really hope that’s not your case. I’ve adjusted the alignment on my partner’s 2016 Fusion and it never projected like yours is doing.
@Jai
Okay, thanks again.
@Sterling
Unless you have small hands, that headlight is coming out. It’s not hard, there are two 10mm bolts under the headlights, then you have the hood stopper and two more bolts nearby. Remove the bumper clips, pull it out from the top. Putting it back on is annoying but not hard.
@Kiran
That’s what I did. Could the bulb be the problem? Maybe it just fits into the two grooves? Or did the projector get knocked out of alignment when my son hit a curb? I just remembered that. I’ll try this bulb one last time, and if it doesn’t work, I’ll look for a new assembly on eBay.
@Jai
How are you needing to replace your headlights every year?

The DRLs are low beams, and when wipers are used, the headlights turn on. My partner drives a lot at night, and we live in the Pacific Northwest, which means a lot of rain. Plus, the Silverstar Ultras provide better light but with a shorter lifespan; they last about 125 to 150 hours.
@Jai
I live in the UK, so it might differ, but the DRLs (which are a rare bulb type) are actually the high beams. Low beam bulbs (like h7) are in their own projector housing.
Get some good quality LED bulbs like BEAMtech or Faren. Install them properly and you’ll have zero glare for drivers. Sharp cutoff lines and more light.
