I asked the guy at Napa auto parts for a parking light, but he gave me the outside yellow light. I need the inside light. This is the light that comes on when pressing unlock on the key fob (2013).
It is the parking/running light. Bulb number 168.

When I took my whole bumper off this weekend, the actual bulb looked bigger than a 168. It kind of looked more like the headlight bulb, but I couldn’t get it all the way out, so I left it blown and replaced only the headlights. Definitely taking it to a shop next time. Thanks for this!
@Bryn
For future reference, Sylvania has an online automotive bulb identifier tool that is great for searching every bulb type in/on your car. I use it all the time.
@Drew
I want to thank you for posting this. I have a Ford Fusion and my turn signal light went out as well as my headlight. I was told I had to purchase a headlight assembly. I’ve been trying to figure out what lights I need, and tried to find somebody who can do it. Thank you very much for posting this; I appreciate you so much.
@Val
You’re welcome! Glad I could help, and glad you don’t have to purchase an entire assembly.
@Bryn
Are you talking about the high beam bulb? That one is larger, but doesn’t come on when you unlock the car, only the little one does (one of mine is burned out, but I’m too lazy to take the bumper off for one little bulb).
@Drew
See that’s where I’m confused because on my car, before they blew out, the two little yellow/orange outside lights and the white inside lights came on when hitting unlock. Those inside ones blew out and I just said F it because my headlights were still working, but I recently had a headlight go out, so I thought I’d replace them all, but the light they gave me looked too small and it was orange coated; it wasn’t orange coated before.
@Bryn
From inside (grille) to outside (fender), the headlight housings have 5 bulbs:
- parking/running light (168 (white/clear), only when unlock is pushed on the remote and whenever headlights are on)
- high beam (H7)
- low beam (H11)
- turn signal (64132, only on when turn signal is on)
- side marker parking/running light (amber/yellow; I believe these are sealed into the housing and are LED).
The inner and outer parking lights are the only ones that come on when you unlock the car. They don’t blink or anything with your turn signal.
@Drew
Thanks for this! Guess it is the 168 I need after all.

I thought hi-beam in a half power is working as DRL.

Running lights are different than daytime running lights.
Running lights are typically white or amber in color, and are the first setting before low beams when you turn on your lights.
Daytime running lights are typically low or high beams running at partial power. On the 2013-2016 Fusion, they are the low beam bulbs.
@Drew
Oh, so complicated on pre-facelift…I’ve a 2017 Fusion with LED DRL…
@Drew
I’ve low and high beam, orange bulb for turn signal. All other probably is LED. Older model has 3 bulbs in hi beam slot, if I understand all right…
P.S. MY2017+ models are made… easier. A little more basic equipment. But many parts are made not so strong as before. Subframe is made easier… harness is not prepared to just plug some new control unit.
Running light or driving light.
168 or 194 or T10 (same socket diff wattage) they all fit in this. It is called DRL, running light, or parking lights.
Parking light. Comes on at the same time as the outer amber light.
I would use a 194 bulb instead of a 168. A 194 is slightly less wattage and draws less amps, less heat. Results in slightly less load on the lighting system.
Because of less heat, the lifespan is longer.
Oh snap! Where’d you find the outside yellow flasher bulb? Did it have the colored coating on it? I’ve been trying to find it everywhere but none of the parts houses have it. O’Reilly has a bulb that will fit the base, but the bulb size is drastically smaller and there’s no colored coating. Napa and AutoZone don’t have it either. Wtf?! I think the bulb you are referring to is part of the daytime running lights; should be a 168 mini bulb.
