My steering wheel on my 2016 Ford Fusion just locked up for no reason at all. It was like it just stopped working. I’ve never had this happen before. Has anyone else ever dealt with this problem?
Is it really locked up or have rodents eaten the power steering wires?
It was definitely locked up, I was at home when it happened.
There are multiple things that could be causing this issue. It could be the steering lock solenoid that’s failed, or maybe it’s the angle input sensor. It could also be something with the ignition system. To figure out what’s wrong, we would need to do some testing.
@Shaye
I didn’t get any warning lights, and I’m going to have it looked at.

What’s wrong with you? If you don’t know what’s wrong with my car, what am I supposed to do? Just wait around for some magic diagnosis? You must be joking.

This happened to me years ago in my old Ford Fusion. I was driving close to home when the steering wheel started feeling stiff. It got to the point where I had to turn off into a driveway I was lucky enough to see. By the time I stopped, the wheel was locked and I got a tow truck. I don’t remember what they said was wrong with it, but it might have been something with the power steering or steering rack. I’ve had so many problems with the engine in my old car, it could have been related.
