Temperature Gauge

Why is this mf not heating up

Could be a bad coolant temp sensor or a stuck open thermostat BUT a stuck open one would eventually get there.

Dead Battery.

Odds are, its working correctly, and you have a stuck thermostat. Also drive it. These take forever to idle up to temp.

My battery was bad

Mine will stay just beyond cold and barely heat up at idle. Once driven it heats up rapidly. If I do any coasting especially during cold weather the needle will drop a bit. These cars like to be driven not idled.

What year and model?

2017 1.5L Turbo.

If you go back far enough in this group I had the same issue last year. The car doesn’t get to operating temperature while idling not after your first cold start. I would drive 3 MI to work in the car. Won’t even be up to operating temperature but I drive my other cars and they’re perfectly at temperature. Only notice it when it’s below 40° but I’ve replaced the thermostat and coolant temp sensor once before. I lived in many different places with the car to include upstate New York, Hawaii, Missouri, and Oklahoma.( Military ) So this car is seen- 40° weather to 120° weather. I’ve replaced the thermostat and the coolant temp sensor and still have the issue. I’m currently getting my water pump replaced since the bearings going out. ( Get ready for a big bill for that job ) I doubt that has anything to do with it but I’ll keep you updated if it fixes it or changes it. Overall, I think it’s just the car being a car. Everything’s normal.

Does it go up after time / driving?

It was a dead battery

Is it 8 degrees like it is where I am? And how long has it been running?
