Quick question about this trim will it fit?

I’ve got a 2020 S model, and I’m planning to upgrade the screen to an 8-inch OEM so I can get Apple CarPlay while keeping the original backup camera intact. I know I’ll need a new climate control bezel for this upgrade, but I’m wondering if the one I found will work or if I need to find something closer to the original bezel.

I’ve included pictures for reference—first photo is what I currently have, and the second is the bezel I’m asking about in terms of fitment.

What about manual climate controls? I don’t have heated seats or a disc slot in my car

Yes, it will work for you. I did that same upgrade a few years ago, and everything worked perfectly. link

@Hayes
Just a heads up, you need a new wiring harness that works with manual controls. I made that mistake first time around

@Hayes
Great, before I start, are there any extra parts or harnesses I should look for? I’m planning to add a USB C port adapter hub for my iPhone 15 and know I need to have the head unit calibrated either at a dealership or when I purchase the unit

@Stormy
From what I recall, you’ll need a GPS module, USB ports, a Sync 3 screen (mine came from a Ford Edge), and a wire harness that fits your car. I also bought a programmer cable and had someone online provide the code for Forscan. Everything went smoothly. I highly recommend getting a wireless CarPlay adapter. I always keep it plugged in, and my car opens CarPlay automatically when I start the engine

@Hayes
I have a screen and APIM, USB port saved on eBay, and a Forscan OBD2 saved on Amazon. Still looking for a GPS module and new harnesses, not sure if I really need them but it’s better to be safe. I’m okay with using a wired connection for CarPlay since I usually charge my phone in the car, so I’ll probably skip the wireless adapter for now

You can use that 2020 panel, but it doesn’t have seat heating buttons. You can either turn on seat heating through the screen or get another panel with the seat heating buttons. These buttons are next to the +/- buttons. If not, you’ll need to swap your instrument cluster for the one with dual screens from Fusion or an LCD dash from the MKZ/Mondeo. Doing this will give you everything as it should be but you would only have one-zone climate control unless you replace the heater and modify the harness to get two-zone capability. You might also need a radiation sensor on the dash

I don’t have heated seats or a disc slot. I couldn’t find good pictures of my entire unit, so I just found one online.

Oh, I thought that picture was yours. Late model Fusions don’t have CD players, that’s for sure. I thought all 2019+ Fusion S models had Sync 3. My friend has a 2019 Fusion S, and it has better features than my 2017 SE. Mine has AWD and the appearance package which makes it look much better. His Fusion also has cruise control with radar and camera

@Kiran
Yeah, I have Sync 3. I recently updated to version 3.42. I’d really love to have a new head unit for CarPlay. I really enjoy my car and got a great deal. I just can’t believe we still had cars in 2020 with non-touchscreen units and manual seats. I love the radar and blind spot monitor; I’ve never had those features before. The remote start feature has been invaluable with this winter weather

@Stormy
Manual seats, wheel caps, and black skirts. Classic Ford! I installed a euro modem, so Ford Pass is working for me too, but I hardly use it to be honest. I bought a wireless adapter for my wife’s iPhone because I couldn’t find a cable that worked for her phone. Now I should teach her to navigate using the map

@Kiran
True, but it’s not all bad

@Stormy
It really depends on the trim level that came with the car

Are you planning to do it yourself? I have a 2014 and want to update to Apple CarPlay

Yes, I’m planning to do it myself

The specific one you are asking about won’t fit. It doesn’t have heated seat buttons, and it looks like you don’t have auto HVAC controls. You should be able to find one that matches your options in that style

@Lane
Thanks for the info. I forgot to mention, the photo isn’t of my exact bezel. I don’t have heated seats or a disc player, so sorry about that

Got it. There’s a great thread on 2gfusions.net about switching bezels and upgrading the screen size. You might want to check it out!

@Lane
Thanks a lot, you really helped me out with that
