It sounds almost like the engine is revving constantly…any help or advise fusers?
It’s hard to say for sure but a cold start will cause higher revs. I’ve noticed this too on cold days. Just keep an eye on it while driving and take it easy until the engine warms up. Don’t start the engine on a cold day and floor it right away.
This should be totally normal. I’ve been driving mine in temperatures from 0 to -30 for the last two months, and yes, at really cold temps the rpms can be as high as 1500. This happens with my car and other vehicles too. Let it warm up if you want the rpms to go below 1k, or you can start driving after a few minutes of idling.
I have a SE 2017 Energi and yesterday it was around 6 degrees, and I was about the same rpm.
Totally normal, it’s cold outside. Mine goes up to 1500rpm when it’s super cold like that. Nothing to worry about.
It’s normal with these temperatures because the engine is warming up. I usually wait until my coolant temp starts moving off of C before I drive. It gives the oil and other stuff time to warm up. I’d guess it has to do with the thicker oil at lower temps and how it flows through the engine.
What am I missing? I watched the video but I don’t see any wild fluctuations?
If it’s a cold start, it will run richer until it warms up. My 16 2.0 does it.
It is cold and if it stays high after temperatures go back to normal, then you should worry. Does it not come down after it warms up?

always drops when idling but had a hard time dropping today
Yeah, I don’t have the same car as you but mine does the same thing right now because it’s really cold. After I get on the highway going about 65-75, it warms up and stops doing it.
Yeah it’s normal. The past week my rpms have doubled, it’s so cold out.
Any vehicle I’ve owned has done this on a cold start. It’ll drop after you touch the gas or it may drop on its own.
My fuel pressure sensor just went out recently and it was doing the same thing for months before.

Replaced mine two months ago
Yeah it stays higher until it warms up.
This might help charge the battery faster too.
Is the AC on during startup?
Mine did the same thing this morning in -15 weather. I was wondering the same thing as you. Seems to be normal.
Looks pretty normal to me. If it was revving to 1500 and then dropping to 1k, that could be an issue.
