Is my transmission start dying?

car-2013 ford Fusion SE FWD 1.6L
2 weeks ago I have changed my tire to winter tire. New Michelin 235/50 R17 and changed my oil from Canadian Tire. After that, I noticed whenever I press my gas pedal from low speed (30-40km/h) engine RPM goes 3000+ but car doesn’t speed up like before. After 50-60km/h RPM becomes normal like 1500-2000. Is it normal? I bought this car preowned and didn’t do anything with transmission. Moreover, as it is my first car I don’t have that much knowledge about cars. Please suggest me should I be worried about the transmission? Or spark plug? I heard a lot of negative things about 2013 1.6L transmission… Thanks all

The 6F35 transmission in pretty much all Fusions 2013-2020 are pretty much bad. They shift hard when cold and between 1st and 2nd gear but will get slightly better as it warms up. My car does it and drove a 2018 Fusion that did it. The only thing you can really do is change the transmission fluid every 30k miles and there’s no serviceable filter without taking apart the entire transmission (nice going Ford).
Fusion hybrid has the CVT which is pretty reliable and to my understanding the Fusion Sport has a pretty solid transmission to accommodate for the V6 twin turbo.

@Hollis
So are you suggesting to change the transmission oil?

It’s probably something engine related since it happened right after an oil change according to you. Tires would have absolutely nothing to do with it. I run the same tire size, no issue. Without more information, we really can’t help but maybe they used the wrong oil, overfilled it… didn’t put enough in… who knows.

I needed a new transmission at 142,000 miles for a 2017 1.5L Eco Fusion and I had no signs coming up that it was gonna blow, it just eternally failed out of nowhere and it was not cheap to replace.

That’s my main concern… I have bought an extended warranty from my dealer… but still it’s a headache.

What’s the point of the pic?

Thought I could not express myself properly, that’s why.

Give it full throttle when you feel resistance after 3,000 RPMs. If your check engine light blinks then you have a misfire, could be spark plugs or ignition coils. Use a code reader to check which cylinder misfired when the check engine blinks.

@Vince
Thanks for the idea, I will do that for sure.

Well if you have never changed oil… or checked the level, of course it’s gonna fail.

Do you mean the transmission oil? Do I need to flush the oil as everyone suggested in the group previously?? How do I check the transmission oil level as it is sealed as I know? Please overlook my ignorance and suggest. Thank you.

It might be the weight difference of the tires.

Okay so the first thing you need to do is reset the ‘transmission time table.’ The 6F35 transmission has adaptable learning which can cause hard shifting and weird RPM issues.

It’s extremely easy to do and has to be done every once in a while on these transmissions.

I’m no expert, but the fact the issue started after the tire/oil change makes me think they might have used the wrong oil, possibly one with a higher viscosity since the car is pushing harder at lower speeds. Your transmission is fine (though Ford is notorious for bad transmissions). Also, if you could upload a video it would make it much easier to diagnose.
