Got it, that’s good to know. Yes, it’s an Ecoboost.

How many miles does it have?

102k. I know that’s high but since it was well maintained, I figured it would work fine for his two-mile school commute for the next couple of years. He’ll probably work no more than five miles from home on weekends since he’s not too comfortable in the bigger city near us yet.

I just want to say you’re awesome and I hope to be a dad like you who can gift their son a car. I was really upset and jealous last year when my friends got nice cars from their parents for graduation. I don’t want my kid to feel that way in the future.

It’s great that you’re excited for your son’s gift!

When people say they’re concerned about a car’s past, it’s because teens or people who modify cars often treat them harshly. If you have good service records, that’s promising. Fusions are wonderful cars, but not meant for hard driving. I believe the 2.0 engine has proven reliable for many. I’d suggest to have him change the oil every 7500 miles instead of sticking to the 10k mile recommendation.

Hope he loves it.

A lot of people will caution you about reliability issues and scary stories here, but every car has its problems, and this one is much better than many first cars out there. My first car had awful tires, and I spun out in freezing rain the first time I drove it. My radiator blew not long after getting it. What I appreciated, though, was that every repair was a learning opportunity for me. This is a solid first car and he should have plenty of enjoyable, trouble-free miles with it. You should feel proud and excited, and I know he will love it. Congrats!

You should take the tints off. He’s just starting to drive and might bump something.

Absolutely! I’m planning to take off the dark tints and replace them with a legal tint for our state. I mentioned this to the salesman because I want him to be safe and not a target for being pulled over.

Lol my first car is a 2015 Fusion and I got it at 16. The first thing I did was put 5% ceramic tint all around. I’m 17 now and love this car a bit too much and haven’t hit anything yet.

A good rule for any used Ford is to always get it checked by a reliable mechanic, no matter the mileage. It’s worth the investment to catch issues early.

Consider buying an extended warranty

Looks just like mine
