You can do it. I have a 2008 with 269,000 miles.

That’s great. What major repairs have you done?

Honestly, it’s more of a beater car now. I’ve spent the most on an AC repair and a new radiator. The transmission is still going, but it hesitates a bit at lower speeds. I’ll drive it until it stops.
@Blane
I forgot to mention that I had trouble figuring out why it wasn’t performing well until it finally gave me warning codes. Yours might have a similar issue by now.
@Blane
Can you share the link? I have a 2014 Escape and I’m facing similar problems. I’d just like a reference.
@Kellan
With today’s market, it seems like you have to drive them until they die. Best of luck and here’s to many more miles…

Don’t forget about car insurance. I live in NJ where it’s crazy expensive. I have a 19-year-old son driving. We have three cars. I’m assigned to my son’s 2018 Nissan and my son is assigned to my 17-year-old 269,000-mile Fusion, and the insurance is still sky-high even for just liability. I tried to buy a newer used car, but with my son, the insurance costs were so high that I had to drop the deal.

I definitely plan to, but this literally happened yesterday and I finally found a place to share it. Thank you.

You forgot to tell us what happened.
@Tristan
It’s all the eights in the mileage, still going strong.
I feel like I’m not doing enough. I got mine new in 2014 and I only have 158k miles on it. Not commuting five days a week since Covid really slowed my mileage down. I was averaging about 20k miles a year for the first few years.
@Sage
I traded in an F150, my fourth one, when my kids started high school. I had to drive them 28 miles one way. I loved that this car gets 30 mpg, and I still get excited every two weeks when I fill it up. I didn’t get any time off for COVID though…
@Clarke
My commute is about 35 miles one way. We were working from home 100% for a year, and then it’s been a hybrid model three days a week. Unfortunately, we are about to go back to five days on-site.
@Sage
It’s an SE Ecoboost.
I’m already over that with my 2015 hybrid Fusion. Great car, fewer problems than my 4Runner. It’s too bad they discontinued it. The hybrid system is very reliable.

I tried convincing my son to get a hybrid for his first car purchase, but he wanted something new. He has to make the pickup and has regretted it since. It’s puzzling why they would stop making a solid model.
My 2014 Titanium has around 323k miles. I hate car payments!

Wow, does it have the 2.0 turbo engine?
