Anyone Had This Problem Before?

I need some advice. One day, when I started my car, I got warning lights saying “Service AdvanceTrac” and “Hill Start Assist Not Available.”

What’s more concerning is that sometimes the traction control kicks in when I’m trying to turn, making it really hard to steer safely.

Has anyone else dealt with this problem? Any ideas on what might be causing it or how to fix it?

I’ve had a similar thing happen but it always goes away for me. I’m not sure why it happens, but it occurs only when I’m making a quick U-turn.

I had this as well. Turns out that the wiring between the wheel speed sensor and the car is loose, so replacing that fixed it.

@Finley
I have this issue right now. Got codes pulled which showed the rear right wheel speed sensor had an issue. I replaced it, but the lights haven’t gone away. I’m assuming I need a code scanner to reset fault codes.

X2

9/10 for me, the wheel speed sensors got too wet or they are dirty. If you find a safe place to park, turn your vehicle off and on, and it should go away.

I had this issue with the warning lights randomly showing up. I had to replace a wheel sensor. Got one for $20 at O’Reilly’s, and replacing it was pretty simple. The code should tell you which wheel sensor to replace, IIRC.

This happened to me and it ended up being an ABS sensor.

Yea, it was a sensor for me.

This pops up on my 2016 Fusion daily.

Yes, because the person in the passenger seat ended up knocking some wires loose with their feet on their side of the car…or something like that. The dealership fixed it.

Had this same issue. Had to take it to the dealership to get it serviced.

Had this issue on my 2014 Fusion. The code said it was the driver side front wheel speed sensor. Replaced that, and the issue didn’t go away. Had it serviced, and one of the wires going into the sensor connector was broke. They replaced the connector, and the issue was fixed. It’s definitely either the sensor or the connector. Have AutoZone do the code scan, and it will at least tell you what wheel to start with. Good luck!!

This also happens with high mileage and if you have stuff plugged in. Had this happen a dozen times driving, then stopping. Also just recently with my OBDII reader plugged in. Finicky electrical system, but always clears when you shut off and start a minute later.

My dad and I discovered a wire that was being burnt through a few years back that was causing this issue. We put some tubing and heat shrink around the wire, and it hasn’t been an issue since. Happened when I would turn left usually.

My wife’s car does this once in a while leaving our driveway. It’s pretty steep. The only spot it comes on (as far as I know).

  1. Probably an old battery issue.
  2. Switch off your driving lane assist or use turn signals while turning.
  3. Check on the brake switch.

These are most likely the issues causing these warnings.

A quick search would have told you that.
